School Support Services

Every child’s needs are unique. Every school environment is unique. For this reason, I offer bespoke specialist training and advice to schools across Hull and East Yorkshire (or further afield by arrangement) to meet the needs of learners with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties.

Staff Training

I offer staff training to primary schools in a variety of areas relating to dyslexia which can include training around:
- Understanding dyslexia

- How to make reasonable adjustments within the classroom for dyslexic learners

- How to tailor support to learners with literacy difficulties.

- Strategies to support children with short-term and working memory difficulties

- Supporting teaching assistants in how to adjust additional support and interventions to best suit dyslexic learners.

Julia was highly knowledgeable and recognised that dyslexia affects individuals differently. During her informative training session, I learned a range of practical techniques and tools specifically designed to help individuals with dyslexia. These strategies included multi-sensory learning approaches, such as using visual aids, hands on activities, and auditory and visual cues to enhance reading and spelling skills. I also gained valuable insights into supporting children to organise information effectively, improve working memory, and build self-confidence. I would highly recommend Julia’s training to anyone seeking to better understand and overcome the challenges associated with dyslexia.

Julia's passion for advocating the needs of dyslexic children is infectious and her knowledge and expertise has given me the confidence to better provide for the children with dyslexia in my class. Julia has also given me the reassurance that lots of things I already do support dyslexic learners but now I know why it is that they work and what I can do to fine-tune them to make them even better. I can now implement high quality teaching with the knowledge that what I am doing really is making a difference for the dyslexic learners in my class.
